My son joined his fellow teachers today and marched on downtown Raleigh. They marched to raise awareness of their low pay, lack of support and the legislature not providing funding.
One of the reasons my family moved to NC was because of the higher education options. The state college system is amazing (more on that in another post).
But the grade schools have not been maintained, especially the teachers. Inflation has been crazy since Covid. Combine that with lack of raises, NC teachers are now 46th in the nation for pay. THAT IS BAD. Invest in our future, invest in our teachers.
The county had to cancel classes because of all the teachers marching. That shows teachers HAVE POWER. They need to unite and make their needs known.
